I have been dancing most of my cognitive life! My training was purely homegrown American style at ABT and Joffrey schools. Very influential teachers for me were David Howard and Maggie Black.

I have performed classical to contemporary works, Balanchine to Bournonville styles, with the Boston Ballet, Les Grands Ballet Canadians, and Les Ballet de Nancy.

Past teaching included Broadway Dance Center, Ballet Hispanico, La Guardia High School of Performing Arts, and New Jersey Ballet. I have done master classes and judging for Dance Masters of America, Professional Dance Teachers Association, and National Association of Dance and Affiliated Arts. For eight years I worked for the New York City Ballet’s Education Department, designing and presenting ballet workshops in public schools.

Aside from teaching, I have collaborated with STEPS’ pianists on music CD’s for ballet class, (Roper Records;), made a video of ballet routines, “Ballet with Style”,  (RIZ BIZ) and written numerous articles for Dance Teacher, Dancer, Dance Spirit, and Pointe magazines, relating to pointe technique, leg shapes, teaching approaches, and ballet choreography.

Though I have taught many ages and levels, preballet to company classes, I am especially fond of teaching my adult dancers.  Such a delightful group to teach because they are so focused, hard working, and ask such intelligent questions!

An integral part of my teaching method involves the use of my invention, The Ballet Glider. Originally designed to give comfort to the ankle when doing barre stretches, I have found the Gliders to also be an effective tool to prevent dancers from clutching the barre, which results in giving them more stability and strength in the center. www.balletglider.com

I am currently on faculty at Barnard College at Columbia University, STEPS on Bway, and Peridance Capezio Center, and sewing the Ballet Gliders in my NYC apt!
